SlideFest

Photographers take the stage for five to seven minutes, share a single personal project, then open it up to the room. That’s it. That’s Slidefest. Since 2009 we’ve run 37 editions across 9 cities and four continents.

The Night

How Slidefest works

Simple by design, powerful in practice. The format has stayed structurally unchanged since the first edition in 2009, because it works.

Five to seven photographers take the stage, one at a time.

Each presents a single personal project in five to seven minutes, no interruptions.

A collective Q&A follows: audience to photographer, direct and unmediated.

Free or low-cost to attend. Anyone can come.

No competition, no jury, no commercial pitch. Just photography, conversation, and community.

Slidefest I

The one that started it all. On a Wednesday evening in October 2009, fifty people crammed into GPP’s small office on beanbags as ten Dubai-based photographers shared personal projects — documentary, fine art, still-life, landscape. No jury, no competition, no theme. The format that would grow to fill a 400-seat auditorium, and travel to Bahrain, Jeddah, London, Birmingham and Toronto, began as exactly this: photographers, a screen, and a room.
