No Place Like Home

Community Exhibition | Call for Submissions

Submission Deadline: August 15
Finalists Notified: September 2
Exhibition Opening: September 17

In an open call, GPP is accepting submissions for its annual community exhibition. This year’s exhibition is entitled No Place Like Home. To be considered, photographers of any qualification may submit work related to the theme of home.

“Home” can masquerade as a simple concept, but in fact, the notion of home is often more complex, meaning different things to different people. When the geography of home is not clear, a home can be a feeling more than a place. That feeling of home could be defined by an object of sentimental value, an activity that gives one a sense of continuity, a loved one, or a family recipe. Even when one’s home is clearly rooted in a place, that place can be embodied in a variety of ways, perhaps through a kind of architecture or a style of home decor that strikes a nostalgic cord. We invite photographers to follow their thoughts and associations with “home” and unearth the subject that gives them that elusive sense of belonging.

Submissions are open to all, including those based in the UAE as well as internationally, until August 15, 2018. There is no fee for entry and entries can be submitted online (see below).

Entrants will be informed if they were selected on September 2, and the opening night of No Place Like Home will be on September 17 at the GPP Gallery in Alserkal Avenue.

Printing of Image

The images will all be printed at the GPP printing studio - we have experience and expertise in getting the best print out of a digital file.
