"I began making photographs in earnest upon moving to the Middle East, and laid the foundations of my current working practice of meditative walking, visually interpreting non-visual cultural material, lateral thinking and drawing on the vocal traditions of my home country - Ireland - as a way of exploring the liminal space between geographic location and respectful cultural enquiry. These photographs are of the incidental visual phrases or ‘grace notes’ I encounter on my many walks through city neighbourhoods that give a sense of how those ‘in between’ spaces speak as themselves in images." Eddie Ryan
“But as a photographer, I’m strictly a listener. I listen to stories told to me not by people, but by landscapes and places, by houses and streets.” Wim Wenders
