Exhibition runs from Jan 12 – Feb 26, 2015
Located in Gulf Photo Plus, Alserkal Avenue, D36, Al Quoz, Dubai

Gulf Photo Plus (GPP) has collaborated with Everyday Middle East (@everydaymiddleeast) to exhibit a collection of images by their contributors; photographers who are redefining photographic representation of the region through social media.

Everyday Middle East is an Instagram feed featuring mobile phone images by 25 professional photographers working in the Middle East and North Africa. Founded in March 2014, Everyday Middle East has collected more than 46,000 followers on Instagram with 520 mobile phone photos posted in the last 8 months.  Everyday Middle East is part of a network of Everyday Projects, which also include Everyday Africa, Everyday Asia and Everyday USA. The projects cross-publish with each other and are currently collaborating to create a non-profit organization.

“By sharing everyday images from our daily lives, we hope to present a more realistic vision of the region and to work against the stereotypes and visual tropes that so often characterize the region in the mainstream media” - Lindsay Mackenzie, Everyday Middle East founder.

GPP will be exhibiting 90 images from the Everyday Middle East series.  Free to attend and open to the public, the exhibition will run from January 12 to February 26, 2014 in the GPP gallery space in Alserkal Avenue.  As part of the exhibition, GPP will also organise a talk and photowalk; more details to be released soon.
