The Photobook Show | Opening Night
Join us for the opening night of The Photobook Show on Monday, April 16 at 7pm during Alserkal Lates. The Photobook Show will showcase a unique sampling of more than 30 books from 12 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia.
Examine contemporary photography practices and historical documentation of life in the region from a photographer’s perspective with a wide spectrum of photobook forms which will be on show at the GPP gallery. From hand-bound experimental booklets from Bon-Gah, an artist collective in Tehran, to a hard cover 630-page publication by Ahmed Mater from Saudi Arabia, The Photobook Show facilitates a private - and even intimate - reading of a photographer’s work and their world, even if the message may be elusive at times.

In parallel to "The Photobook Show" exhibition, we will also host a series of talks reflecting upon various aspects of the photobook phenomenon. Our first speaker is Daniel Donnelly, founder of Photobook Club Bahrain, who will share his insights into the world of photobook making on Wed, April 25 at 7pm. Register for free here!
