GPP Talks with Nick Fancher | From Basement Studio to Times Square

Nick Fancher is a portrait and commercial photographer based in Columbus, Ohio. He is equally known for his stylized portraits, using bold colors and experimental techniques, as he is for using minimal gear in often unconventional locations.

In this talk, Fancher will discuss the origins of his photographic journey, beginning with a cheap dslr and a kit lens, working out of a makeshift studio in his basement. After covering gear and technique, he will talk about an equally important element to making a career as a photographer: carving out a niche in the industry. He will discuss how he went from photographing musicians in the back of dark venues to shooting campaigns that landed in Times Square.

The talk will be followed by a signing of his Studio Anywhere and Chroma books, which will be available to purchase from GPP.
