SONDUKE (“صندوق”) is a Gulf/ MENA based independent digital platform featuring regional and global experimental and industrial art and sound. Launched at Focal Point 2024, their first printed publication and fifth issue, comprising a range of experimental artists and musicians from the SWANA region and beyond, provides a glimpse into the magazine’s creative process and inspirations.

This issue features experimental sonic and visual works. Notions such as the militarization of sound, the somatic connection to land, tattoos adorning bodies, and dissident archiving as a resistant practice emerge. The visual and photographic elements of this magazine traverse between Myriam Boulos’s striking scenes of Beirut’s uprising in 2019, haunting stills from Palestinian artist Noor Abed’s films, and digital archives found in the work of Amad Ansari’s Palestine Online.
