Frequently Asked Questions

I'm a complete beginner — is this for me?

100% yes. This is exactly who we built it for. Bring zero prior experience and a camera with manual modes — leave shooting confidently in semi-manual by the end of the day.

What camera do I need to bring?

A DSLR or mirrorless with manual modes — any brand, any age. Point-and-shoots and fully-automatic cameras won't work because the whole class is about taking control of ISO, shutter, and aperture. No camera? We've got you 📸 — see the loan-camera Q below.

Do we go out and shoot, or stay in the classroom?

Both. Most of the teaching happens in our classroom; we step out into Alserkal Avenue for hands-on shooting practice.

Is there a break?

Yes — a full 1-hour break midway through the day. Plenty of cafes and food spots inside Alserkal Avenue ☕

How big is the class?

Capped at 12 students, so the instructor can actually give you individual attention — no being lost in a crowd.

What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2?

Level 1 takes you from Auto to confident semi-manual. Level 2 builds on that with full manual control, advanced composition, and longer creative projects. Most students take L1 then L2 within a few months.

Will we cover editing?

Nope, this one's purely about taking the shot. For editing, we run separate Lightroom and Photoshop workshops — different beast 🎨

Is there parking?

Yes 🅿️ — RTA-paid street parking dotted around Alserkal Avenue, plus a valet service at the entrance for a small fee. In summer or on busy weekends, we'd lean valet — the walk from further-out spots can get toasty.

Can I pay for my workshop on the first day of class?

Payment must be made prior to the start of your workshop in order to guarantee you a spot. You can book online or visit GPP in person during regular working hours.

Will I get a certificate for the workshop?

We're happy to prepare a custom certificate of completion for any workshop you take with us. Send us an email at least 3 days before your workshop starts, and we'll have your certificate ready and waiting for you to collect at the end of class.

Can I take a workshop if I don't have my own camera?

If you don't have your own DSLR or mirrorless camera, we have a limited number of loan cameras available that you can borrow (free of charge!) during your workshop. All you need to bring is your own SD card.

To request to borrow a loan camera, email us at least 36 hours in advance with the subject line "Help! I Need a Camera!" — please include your workshop dates and order confirmation number. Loan cameras are limited and the program works on a first-come, first-served basis.

Is the workshop in-person or online?

100% in-person at our space in Alserkal Avenue, Dubai. No online or hybrid option — the whole class is hands-on shooting with live feedback from your instructor 🤝
