Karima: A Day in the Life of a Henna Girl

Join us for a free movie screening of Hassan Hajjaj's first feature-length film,  Karima: A Day in the Life of a Henna Girl in conjunction with Cinema Akil and Alserkal Avenue.

 

A documentary set in Marrakesh, the film portrays layered gender roles in contemporary Islam as it follows the life of Karima,  who in addition to being a local icon known for speeding through town on her bike with her vibrant veils streaming behind her, is a mother, wife, and working henna artist.
