Ramadan Photo Walk | Seeing Naif

Not your average photo walk. Develop a critical and surrealist practice whilst you experience the humble spirit of Ramadan, and explore the history one of Dubai's oldest neighbourhoods.

Join artist Nahla Tabbaa and photographer Kathleen Hoare on a playful, narrative-rich photo walk around a neighborhood brimming with multi-layered stories, and bustling imagery.

 

Explore one of Dubai’s oldest neighborhoods at dusk to capture the city’s breathtaking skyline at sunset, unearth its rich history and its teeming streets.

 

Set at Iftar time, participants will be handed prompts that both direct, and challenge them to see and capture the urban environment differently.  This is NOT your average photo walk. Rather than focus on homogeneous photo content, participants will be able to develop a critical and surrealist practice, with equally refined technical support by Kathleen. Nahla will pepper the experience with anecdotes and nuggets of history of the old Dubai neighborhood, Naif.

  • Please note that this photo walk is entirely done on foot, so expect lots of walking.
  •  Temperatues and humidity at this time will be high and we will not be in an air-conditioned environment.

What to bring
  • A camera with a fully charged battery - whether it’s a mobile phone or a DSLR. All are welcome.
  • We also won't be able to drink water until prayer time, which will be thirty minutes after we first meet. 
  • Please pack light and bring all of your belongings and gear in one small camera bag. We will be moving around constantly and thus large camera bags and lots of gear will be cumbersome.

Cancellation Policy
  • No refund possible in case of cancellation. 
  • Rescheduling permitted within the same photo walk type only if request is received 7 days or more before the photo walk and if there is availability on the new date requested. 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Photo walks can be rescheduled within 1 month of the original booking and within the same photo walk type, only if there is availability on the new date requested. 
  • Bookings can only be transferred ONCE. If you transfer your photo walk booking and later wish to cancel it, we will not be able to refund or reschedule you under any circumstances. 
  • You must be 18 or older to attend this photo walk. If you are younger than 18 or booking for someone under 18 years of age, please contact us first and we will be happy to advise you.

ALLERGY WARNING

We may stop for a couple of snacks during this photo walk. If you are allergic to certain ingredients, kindly know that these ingredients may be used in the restaurants we visit even if they do not feature in our selected dishes.  Gulf Photo Plus L.L.C. will not assume liability for the risk of cross-contamination with these ingredients nor for any known or unknown allergies. Anyone who books this photo walk accepts all liabilities associated with the risk of consuming food(s) that may cause an allergic reaction.
