What's Covered

We make online learning fun and easy! In this workshop, you will break free of Auto mode as you gain a solid understanding of the essential elements in achieving a perfect exposure: ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. You will also explore the creative side of photography with a focus on the traditional rules of composition, as well as how to break them. By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently craft and shoot photos in semi-manual modes.

  • ISO, aperture, shutter speed & depth of field 
  • White balance, exposure compensation 
  • Compositional rules and how to develop a critical eye 
  • Light, color, and temperature 
  • Burst mode, focus tracking, focus lock
 
How does it work?

  1. As soon as you've booked your class, we recommend you download your ZOOM client app so that you're ready to go on the day! ZOOM is free and easy to download - You can download ZOOM via their website linked here.
  2. Shortly before the workshop you will be sent an email with a direct link to your online class.
  3. Once you've joined the online class, your instructor will give you a live tutorial of how to use the software.
  4. You'll have plenty of opporunity to ask questions throughout your workshop, and we'll be keeping class numbers small to maximise your experience.
  5. Grab a cup of tea and enjoy your class from the comfort of your home!

What to bring
  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with fully-charged battery (point-and-shoot cameras and smartphones are not suitable)
  • Empty memory card for your camera
  • Headphones (if you have them)
  • A laptop, desktop computer or smartphone with the ZOOM.us client app installed (we recommend a laptop/destop computer over a smartphone to get the most out of your class). ZOOM is free and easy to download - You can download ZOOM via their website linked here.
  • A working internet connection

Cancellation Policy
  • What if I have to cancel or can't attend on the day? We get it... things happen.
  • If you cancel your workshop a minimum of 7 days in advance of your workshop, you will be issued a 90% refund or may be rescheduled to another date(s).
  • If you cancel your workshop a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your workshop, no refund will be issued, but you may request to be rescheduled to another workshop date(s).
  • If you cancel your workshop less than 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your workshop, no refund and no reschedule is possible. However, please write to us and let us know and we'll put you on the waitng list for a future class.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Workshops can be rescheduled within 3 months of the originally booked workshop date(s).
  • Bookings can only be transferred ONCE. If you transfer your workshop booking and later wish to cancel it, we will not be able to refund or reschedule you under any circumstances.
  • You must be 16 or older to attend this workshop. If you are younger than 16 or booking for someone under 16 years of age, please contact us first and we will be happy to advise you.
Please Note: Our classes are open to ANY brand of camera: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji and any other intermediate to advanced cameras (As long as they have manual controls i.e. NOT point-and-shoots) are welcome!
