Video content is vastly outpacing photography when it comes to engaging with audiences online, but learning how to shoot video alone is not enough. Poor video editing can undo all the hard work that went into a shoot; and on the flipside, strong video editing can unlock the power of video even further.

 

Perfect for anyone who keeps a vlog, be it on YouTube or IGTV, as well as freelancers wishing to develop their videography skills, this workshop will endow you with the knowledge of Premiere Pro that you need to take your video work to the next level, and more. Video editing is far more than using software, and you will learn the full process, from story-boarding to final cut.

 

 Day 1:

  • Explanation of each tool in Premiere Pro’s complex interface, and how to navigate Hands-on practical editing exercises using various tools (video footage provided) 
  • Information on editing for different styles of video e.g. vlogs, interviews, outdoor and indoor shots 
  • Homework: plan and storyboard a short documentary (video footage provided) 

Day 2:

  • Edit your short documentary based on your storyboard with instructor’s guidance Your documentary will follow the story of a local artist, who is a fun and interesting character. 
  • Employ all techniques learned on Day 1 
  • Brainstorming ideas with classmates, watching and critiquing one another’s work 

This workshop will cover:

  • Importing, Previewing, and Organizing Media 
  • Creating a Sequence, Adding, Inserting, and Arranging Clips in a Sequence 
  • Editing Tools and Editing Techniques 
  • Editing for Different Frame Rates and Manipulating Clip Speed 
  • Essential Audio Editing [Voice over & Speaker Audio] 
  • Selecting and Adding Music Adding Still Images, Text, Subtitles and Graphics 
  • Creating Transitions [Video, Audio & Stills] 
  • Color Correction and Introduction to Color Grading 
  • Exporting and Viewing

who should attend
  • This is an intensive workshop. You must be very confident in your computer literacy to attend this class, as the instructor will not have time to offer special attention to someone with limited ability to use their computer.
  • This workshop will have homework on the first evening of class. You will be expected to spend 30 minutes to 1 hour at home preparing a storyboard.

What to bring
  • A laptop which meets the minimum system requirements for Premiere Pro. 
  • Adobe Premiere Pro pre-downloaded and fully functioning on your laptop. If you’re not ready to purchase a software subscription yet, you can utilize Adobe’s free 7-day trial which can be downloaded here. You must install Adobe Premiere Pro on your laptop and check that it is working correctly prior to attending the workshop*. 
  • Laptop charger 
  • Laptop mouse (optional but highly recommended) 
  • A harddrive with 250GB+ of space - We will provide you with video files to edit 
  • Notebook & Pen
 

*If you do not download the software and check that it is working prior to your class we will not be able to reschedule or refund you if you do not have the software on the first day of class. If you need help installing the software, please contact us at least 48hours before the start of your class and we will do our best to assist you.

Cancellation Policy
  • If you cancel your workshop a minimum of 7 days in advance of your workshop, you will be issued a 90% refund or may be rescheduled to another date(s).
  • If you cancel your workshop a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your workshop, no refund will be issued, but you may request to be rescheduled to another workshop date(s).
  • If you cancel your workshop less than 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your workshop, no refund and no reschedule is possible.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Workshops can be rescheduled within 3 months of the originally booked workshop date(s).
  • Bookings can only be transferred ONCE, including in the event of a workshop relocation. If you transfer your workshop booking and later wish to cancel it, we will not be able to refund or reschedule you under any circumstances.
  • GPP reserves the right to change the location of any workshop to another location within the same city and/or emirate as deemed necessary in accordance with management discretion.
  • You must be 16 or older to attend this workshop. If you are younger than 16 or booking for someone under 16 years of age, please contact us first and we will be happy to advise you.
Please Note: Our classes are open to ANY brand of camera: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji and any other intermediate to advanced cameras (As long as they have manual controls i.e. NOT point-and-shoots) are welcome!
