What's Covered

Explore one of Dubai’s oldest neighborhoods at dusk to capture the city’s breathtaking skyline, unearth its rich history, its teeming streets, and savor its delicious culinary offerings. Stepping into Naif is like falling down a rabbit hole into Wonderland. Except that far from being a pretty pastel scene with a tea party, this Wonderland is more akin to a chaotic labyrinth where the working class of Dubai sips chai, lights a cigarette, and squats atop a luggage cart for an impromptu siesta.

Exploring as a group lets you focus on the infinitely colourful ‘moments of life’ unfolding in Naif, without having to navigate through the twisted lanes waiting to confound the lone outsider. Point your lens through the lopsided window of a working man’s café, sip chai with Sudanese men on the communal benches, admire the vintage painted chests stacked in a Pakistani wholesaler’s shop, eavesdrop on multilingual conversations by the mosque, or stumble into a piping hot alley with tandoori ovens and rugged-faced Afghani bakers.

Our group is co-led by GPP's photography instructors who are well-practised in the art of Street Photography. We follow them through one of the oldest neighbourhoods alongside the Dubai Creek to experience the twilight skies as they reverberate with the call to prayer. We learn to capture the fiery orange moments over the water and how to coax their warm hues into a shocking, visually vivid, electric blue.

No excursion into Naif should end without something to appease the taste buds. We wind up our trail with dinner (included in the price) at one of Naif's hidden ethnic restaurant gems. Be prepared to ditch the cutlery, roll up your sleeves and dig right in like the locals of Old Dubai. You will also have the opportunity to heroically multi-task through our hands-on dinner with a fun photography debrief where you will share favorite photographs and the day’s encounters with fellow trail-goers over a mouthwatering meal from one of Naif’s many hidden gems.

  • Savor delicious snacks and dinner with other foodies
  • Practicing your photography skills on-the-go
  • Learn camera settings & composition relevant to street photography
  • See a different side of Dubai & see the city in a new light
