This workshop is limited to 12 students only

In his best selling and critically-acclaimed book, The Passionate Photographer: 10 Steps Toward Becoming Great, Steve Simon tells us that finding a photo story or theme you feel passionate will help take you to the next level in your photography. This is the core message and philosophy for this intensive one-day workshop that will inspire a profound and positive change in your photography.

Through his innovative 10-step approach he will inspire you to transform your passions into a unique personal vision, taking you out of your comfort zone to push photographic boundaries for new and exciting work you know you can make.

Steve provides an overview of his working philosophy and deconstructs the elements that makes good photographers great. After a technical lecture and discussion you will learn how to simplify your picture-taking process yet maintain full control over what the image will look like, setting the stage for a quantum leap in the quality of your work.

We will take a group look at your images and discuss what is working, where there is room for improvement and ideas for making things better. We will take an honest look at our strengths and weaknesses and come up with solutions and action steps to get to the next level.

From finding inspiration to transforming your passion into a unique personal vision regardless of your specialization in photography, you will learn to trust your intuition and rid yourself of preconceptions that hold you back. Some of the topics covered include: finding direction and meaning in your work; the importance of persistence and practice and the 10,000 hours theory, visual warm-up techniques and how to photograph people by establishing trust to gain access. We will look at ethics and overcoming photographic fears as well as following your instincts and troubleshooting technical and practical issues. The art of editing efficiently, ruthlessly and throughly to help you squeeze the very best images out of every shoot will also be taught.

This will be an intense and fun experience that gives you a reinvigorated passion for your work and a clear and concise plan of action, maximizing your strengths and talents to move forward toward becoming a great photographer. This will be a powerful start to a great week of improving your work at GPP 2014.

NOTE: There is no shooting component in this one-day workshop,  but you will be encouraged to use some of the concepts learned immediately for a positive difference in the images you get  during GPP2014.
