Anatomy of a Beauty & Fashion Shoot
Level: Lighting - Advanced
This workshop will tackle the components of a successful high-end fashion and beauty shoot, starting from client briefs and communication with clients and the team, concept creation, choosing and briefing the team, and all the way to producing and executing the shoot and final delivery.
Working with a professional team of models, make-up and hair artists, and wardrobe stylists, you will get a hands-on experience of executing the entire process with Araman.
In addition, Araman will be sharing the scoop about the business side of the industry, along with especially invaluable insights from the local Middle East markets. His personal experience of building a portfolio, creating a business model, and all the other insider secrets of the trade. This is the time to ask Araman everything you've ever wondered about the business of fashion photography!
Day One:
You will spend this day in class, learning about the theory and concepts of fashion photography and the industry.
Araman will share his experience and his approach to tackling assignments. He will take your through the various styles of fashion photography, top fashion portfolios and the techniques used, and what’s “IN” globally these days.
You will learn about a variety of Araman’s lighting tricks & techniques from specific shoots in his portfolio, as well as the conceptual use of light that will leave you able to think about and see light differently.
The day will end with Araman sharing a brief from a client, and an engaging session of creating a concept that you will be shooting together on day 2.
Day Two:
Araman will be putting it all into practice at a fully-equipped venue, where he will use different lighting set-ups, and working with a highly professional crew of artists and wardrobe stylist and 2 highly experienced international models. Refer to their pictures & bios below.
You will build a few sets as a collaborative effort, and watch Araman as he briefs his team, directs the models, and shoot. Afterwards, you will each get the chance to shoot at each set under Araman’s guidance and to receive critique on the spot.
You are a confident user of all the manual shooting modes on your camera for exposure control. You may be a passionate amateur photographer, aspiring professional, photographer's assistant or professional aiming to sharpen your skills.
You are a confident user of lighting set ups. You are interested in learning about the process of a professional photographer; how he/she approaches and delivers a photo(s) from planning to finished image.
Please submit photos that demonstrate you've worked with lighting gear before.
Portfolio Review Required
Our sincerest desire is to maintain a consistent level of photographic proficiency so that you and your fellow participants can get the most out of this workshop. Therefore we ask that you submit a sample of images that demonstrate your experience is at the defined level of the workshop.

We will review your images and respond to you within 1 working day. If we do not feel that your choice is appropriate, we will contact you to discuss alternatives.

Toufic Araman
Toufic ARAMAN is an award-winning beauty and fashion photographer who shares his time between Dubai Cairo, Beirut and New York. His work has been described as passionate, elegant, and mischievous. He tells stories; his photographs invite us on a journey, guided by light.

- If you cancel your workshop before January 7, 2018, you get back 70% of the workshop value.
