Commercial Photography: A Creative Trajectory

GARY SCHMID

Commercial photographer Gary Schmid will share how he entered the world of professional photography, tracing his creative and professional development as well as his career arc from an amateur photographer working with an attic-space dark room to a highly sought-after professional flying across the globe for assignments.

During the talk, Schmid will also offer a behind-the-scenes look at commercial photography across a variety of genres, including food, fashion and architectural photography.

About GARY SCHMID

Gary Schmid is an international commercial and travel photographer based in Dubai. Originally trained in film, he quickly transitioned to digital imaging, gaining a Master Craftsman's Diploma in Photography in 2004 and opening his own studio in Austria. In 2009 he transitioned to Dubai and now travels for photography assignments around the world. In addition to his status as head photographer for several hgih-end luxury hotel chains, he specializes in interior, lifestyle, fashion and food for other several additional commercial clients. His photographs have been published in magazines around the world and exhibited internationally in Dubai and Europe. He is a Canon Explorer in the Canon Ambassador Programme.
