DESCRIPTION

My Turn (2019) is part of a larger series on my family. It shows an Emirati tradition of burning bukhoor or oud. Oud is usually reserved for special occasions due to its extraction from Aquilaria trees yielding a high monetary value. This photograph serves as an important reality to complicate sensationalized ideas of Emirati culture.
