This workshop will introduce you to the basics of food styling for photography. You will learn how to conceptualise, prep, prop, and style mouthwatering images of food while gaining insight into tools of the trade and tips for preparing and shooting food under pressure.
Venue support by Miele Gallery.
This part-theory, part-practical introduction to food styling for photographers will give attendees a unique insight into the genre while equipping them with the styling tools needed to help make a food photography shoot successful.
Through live demonstrations and hands-on experimentation, you will learn how to conceptualise, prep, prop, and style food items to ensure you get mouthwatering results. You will also learn in-depth tips and tricks needed to make your dishes look sensational and to keep them looking that way over the course of a photo shoot. Fiona, one of Dubai’s premiere food stylists, will share an impressive array of styling tools and invaluable insights when it comes to styling food for a shoot under pressure.
Note: While Fiona Archibald is one of Dubai’s premiere food stylists, she is not a photographer. A GPP staff member will be present to assist with shooting, but the focus of this class is the styling of the food itself in preparation to be photographed, not photographic techniques. The majority of the practical portion of this workshop will be dedicated to styling; your photography skills will come into play only to document the styled dishes you have worked on during class.
