This workshop simplifies complex filmmaking techniques. You will learn the key differences in capturing motion versus still photographs, how to manage audio recordings and how to work with natural and artificial lighting. You will also get an introduction to editing your video and audio together to tell the story of the content you're creating.

  • DSLR or Mirrorless camera capable of shooting video with fully-charged battery
  • Camera manual (optional)
  • Extra camera batteries
  • Headphones
  • Empty memory card for your camera with an identifying mark (SD cards should be class 6 or higher, CF cards should be 400x or faster)
  • Laptop and charger with trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro installed and operational
  • Mouse (optional - in lieu of laptop trackpad)
  • Tripod (if you have one)
  • On-camera microphone (if you have one)


Note: You should have basic Mac or PC skills, including launching an application, creating, naming and saving documents and navigating folders to locate a specific file. Adobe Premier Pro is now part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud plan. You can sign up 
here for the Creative Cloud or you can utilise Adobe’s free 7-day trial, which can be downloaded here. You must install Adobe Premier Pro on your laptop and check that it is working correctly prior to attending the workshop.


Need a camera? If you do not yet own a DSLR/Mirrorless camera, GPP is happy to lend you one of our Sony a6300's to use during your workshop, free of charge! All you need to bring is your own SD card.
 
To request to reserve a loan camera for your workshop, just email us at info@gulfphotoplus.com with the subject line "Help! I need a Camera!" and include your workshops dates and order confirmation number in the email. Please note that we have a limited number of loan cameras available and the program works on a first come, first served basis.

Wilbur Smith is a South African born and raised  still life, conceptual portraiture photographer, and Videographer, based in Dubai, UAE. Wilbur's work has been published in various publications such as Citizen K and WatchTime Middle east. He has a love for teaching people the beauty of capturing moments .

Cancellation Policy
  • If cancelled 7 days prior to the start of your workshop, you will be issued a 90% refund or may be rescheduled to another date(s).
  • If cancelled a minimum of 3 days (72 hours) prior to the start of your workshop, no refund is possible, but you may be rescheduled to another workshop date(s).
  • If cancelled less than 3 days (72 hours) in advance of your workshop, no refund and no reschedule is possible.

 

GPP reserves the right to change the location of any workshop to another location within the same city and/or emirate as deemed needful in accordance with management discretion.

Workshops can be rescheduled within 3 months of the originally booked workshop date(s).

Bookings can only be transferred ONCE, including in the event of a workshop relocation.  If you transfer your workshop booking and later wish to cancel it, we will unfortunately not be able to refund or reschedule you under any circumstances.

Please Note: Our classes are open to ANY brand of camera: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji and any other intermediate to advanced cameras (As long as they have manual controls i.e. NOT point-and-shoots) are welcome!
