The natural light edition of Practicing Portraiture focuses on teaching you how to enliven your portraits in an outdoor or window-light setting. You’ll learn to apply creative thinking to your portraits through utilizing backgrounds and props, and how to interact with your subject to bring out their best side for the lens. The emphasis in this workshop is on practicing, so be ready to serve as both model and portrait photographer. You will also receive a live editing demonstration, covering the best practices for post-production of portrait images. This workshop is perfect for professionals shooting for corporate clients or parents aiming to breathe life into their family album. 

 

  • Techniques for shooting in direct sunlight, overcast or backlit situations
  • Using reflectors and diffusers to modify available light
  • Styling through location, props & backgrounds
  • Posing, expression & communicating with subjects
  • Editing demonstration with a focus on natural light

who should attend

Suitable for those who have completed our Photography Level 1 workshop. You should have a thorough understanding of ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and how all of these relate to each other to achieve a correct exposure. If you are not familiar with these terms or currently shoot in Auto or P mode, we recommend enrolling for our Photography Level 1 workshop prior to attending. If you have completed our Photography Level 2 workshop you will be equipped to benefit most fully from this workshop.

Please Note: Our classes are open to ANY brand of camera: Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji and any other intermediate to advanced cameras (As long as they have manual controls i.e. NOT point-and-shoots) are welcome!
