"Memories of Satwa"
Now on the brink of gentrification and urban re-panning. “Memories of Satwa” is a photographic memoir of one of Dubai’s oldest and most popular neighborhoods. Combined with photographs captured and compiled by photographer and long-time Dubai expat Jalal Abuthina, this book also features a historical introduction to the area by Professor Yasser El Shestawy of the Urban Research Lab, UAE University of Al Ain. "Memories of Satwa" includes rare images of Satwa and it's residents that have been documented over the past decade. Some of the areas featured, such a parts of the Emirati neighborhood of Al Shabia, have now been completely demolished.
