I wonder if perhaps you have left your exposure compensation set to -1 to -1.5 stops. Remember the camera stores the compensation even with the power turned off so set it back to zero. A well thought out shot. Can that chrome "hoop" be moved out of the way? Would be great if it was gone and then crop just to the edge of his laptop. If he sits there often try it. It is a wonderful idea!!
