Burj Dubai - 2.3 gigapixel photograph made up of 381 images.

The image was created by stitching together 381 hi-res 21megapixel images together to create the final image. If you zoom in, you can see an incredible level of detail on the Burj Dubai tower. See picture below for an example
The images were made with a Canon 5D Mark II camera which produces 21 megapixel images and Gerald used the Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 IS L lens set at the 400mm focal length. He metered the exposure of the centre area of the buiding and used that reading for all images and also importantly set the white balance on manual otherwise he would have had different color temperature output across the images. He also used a tripod with a panorama head for all the images and the entire shooting process took just under an hour.
That was the easy part - stitching the images was next and Gerald used a fantastic software called PTgui Pro to stitch the images. The stitching together of the images took 7 days - yes, you read that right - 7 days to complete and finally, off to Photoshop to make slight final adjustments and that yielded a 2.3 gigapixel shot of the world's tallest tower.
