As a well-travelled adventure seeker with a fearless curiosity, award-winning Swedish photographer Katarina Premfors has gained an enormous amount of experience in photographing across different genres. With 20 years as a professional commercial photographer under her belt, she has established her style and continues to explore new ways of expressing herself behind the lens.
Finding inspiration in extraordinary places, and certainly not afraid to place herself in unusual situations to get a shot, Premfor’s desire to capture the essence of her subject is evident in the outcome of her shoots. Her political and cultural awareness, derived from 20 years of living and working in the Middle East, adds depth to personal and commercial projects.
Premfor is an active member of a number of humanitarian initiatives to which she dedicates her time and expertise. One of these is Photographers for Hope, an organization led by photographers who believe in the power of images to support positive social change. Another is UNICEF, for whom Katarina has shot a number of photographic essays depicting sensitive issues such as HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and disabilities in countries such as Oman and Afghanistan.
Premfor's clients vary from many top global advertising and branding agencies to direct bookings for Microsoft, Cisco and Emirates Airlines, whilst her documentary and editorial work has enabled her to work with UNICEF, Conde Naste, Forbes, Geo, and Monocle Magazine amongst others.
