Artist Statement

In describing this image Martin explained, "Every year during the November full moon, thousands of Camel traders, gypsies, hawkers and tourists descend upon the holy town of Pushkar, Rajasthan. Part apocalypse, part circus, the Pushkar camel fair is a photographers dream.  As part of my ongoing "india Light" series, these images seek to capture the spirit and soul of the local nomadic culture using a simple but immensely effective photographic technique: subdue the background chaos and isolate the subject by bathing them in majestic and almost mythical light."
