We're super excited about this brand new addition to the GPP schedule – Photographing People: Editorial and Environmental Portrait Photography with Clint McLean.
What makes a great portrait and sets it apart from others? How can you tell a story about a person with one picture? How do you bring out the essence of an individual? In this 3 hour seminar, Clint will explore the psychology and architecture of portraits through viewing and discussing the work of select photographers and deconstructing how their successful portraits were created. This course is based around contemporary portraits with an emphasis on editorial/magazine portraits.
A great portrait captures a magical fleeting moment of give and take between photographer and subject. It can be an orchestrated moment, or a spontaneous one but the intention for the image is the same – to be compelling and memorable.
Other key elements that will be discussed: concept development, research, propping/styling, the set and tricks and hints for the shoot. Clint will also go through the briefing process for a typical portrait assignment and share with you how some photographers approached the subject and the results of that shoot.
You will leave this seminar totally inspired and ready to go out and make your best environmental portraits ever.
