We love a good Photo Walk at GPP. It's a great way to go and shoot at places you never thought of, or never dared go alone, without fear of being moved on or, in extreme cases, arrested. And you get to meet and share ideas with fellow photographers.
Our third Photo Walk took place a few weeks ago, on a hot and sticky Friday afternoon in Deira. More than 30 GPP'ers hopped on a bus from Jafiliya Station and set off on a journey to deepest, darkest Deira.
The Fruit & Vegetable and Fish markets were bursting with photo opportunities, and the market workers were ready, willing and able to have their portraits take by our sharp shooters. But the icing on the cake came an hour before evening prayers, when we trekked from the markets to a neighbouring waste land for ring side seats (well actually, ground) at the weekly Kushti wrestling. This amazing event happens every Friday afternoon and has to be seen to be believed.
The next Photo Walk will take place when the weather cools down. If you have any ideas for a great location, drop us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
