The Empty Quarter, Dubai, U.A.E.
December 9, 2010- January 9, 2011
This magnificent set of platinum prints are based on Captain Scott’s Antarctic expedition 1910-1913. The photographs were taken by Herbert Ponting who was recruited as ‘camera artist’ to document the expedition. Over 1700 glass plate negatives were left and the portfolio is divided into five thematic sections: Explorers, Man and Sledge, Terra Nova, Cape Evans and Antarctic Landscapes. This rich collection of photographs show the Antarctic landscape and life of explorers, while capturing portraits reflecting their emotions and survival experiences.
